Darkness
My soul is alight with darkness.
Oh, to not see that I can see.
To avoid seeing the unavoidable;
For I know enough to wish not to comprehend-
Life.
It is so not complicated.
It’s my fault.
The price is mine to pay:
Oh, the guilt, the pain;
To pay that price that I could have avoided paying.
This price:
I am that man,
Created in the image and then the likeness of
The Creator of everything.
What is He like?
I don’t know or don’t want to know?
My soul is alight with darkness.
Oh, to not see that I can see.
To avoid seeing the unavoidable;
For I know enough to wish not to comprehend-
Life.
It is so not complicated.
I know too much to claim ignorance.
So to be is within me
But I am alight in darkness;
To not see that I can see
Is a lie I tell myself.
But that day will come
Responsibility will not be avoidable,
When I must admit that I was,
As I am;
Responsible for Life Eternal,
And not only temporal.
How dare my soul continue to be…

‘For I know enough to wish not to comprehend-
Life.
It is so not complicated.’ I really liked these lines. People always say life is complicated and you created a contrast.
Nice.

Wonderful poem, (a mess of very known feelings), emotionally charged….but remember – it’s always darkest before the dawn….
thank you for your visit and kind comment Sam,
wishing you a calm afternoon..
