It Must Die to Live Again

Let it die . . .

That fleeting memory

Of love gone by,

Let it die . . .

It did not survive;

That end toward which I stride;

Let it die . . .

Why huddle o’er it?

It will not grow;

Where it never was

Will surely never be;

Let it die . . .

A fainting star up in the sky,

Across the light years,

A plea,

A sigh;

Let it die . . .

Why wait by the window

With lit candle a-glow

Why search through tomorrows

It will not be there, you know;

Why wait for the mailman

A letter will not appear,

Let it die . . .

That soft flowing glimmer

Of love gone by;

Retained on my retina

Like a clear blue summer sky;

Let it die.

let it die;

To that love say farewell,

good-bye . . .

LET IT DIE

  1. bless your soul. when your heart knows its bound to die, you should let it go in peace and wait for its rebirth.
