You are special,

Not because you say you are,

But because you are created special each

And every waking day.

You are not special because of what you say

But because you say;

Not because of what you did

But because you do

And will do it again and again and again.

You are special,

Not because you are on my mind

But because you are in my heart

Not because you are smooth

But because you are rough-

When you need to be;

Not because you speak softly

But because you will speak LOUDLY

Not to be heard by us

But to be sure it’s what you intended to say.

Not because I know you

But because you know you

And because you sometime don’t like the U,

You know,

So you are striving to be that U,

You would like to know.

That makes you special,

Not because you are on my mind

But because you are in my heart.

Not because I agree with what you say

But because you believe in what you say

Not because you are white with a chocolate heart

But because you are 100% chocolate

Not because you are politically correct

But because you strive to make our politics correct.

I’m sorry

They don’t see your tears

When you are screaming

And they don’t feel your pain

When you think of being loved.

They don’t glimpse your past

When you are pointing toward the future

But know that you are special,

Not because you are on my mind

But because

YOU ARE IN MY HEART
